Pavilion laser cut model
Concept design and model of a pavilion for Serpentine Galleries exhibition in London. Made of laser cut MDF wood.
Repetitive cuts following a pattern (Kerfing) allow the MDF board to bend. It is a single-piece design. The whole pavilion is formed by only two such pieces, connected by puzzle-like tabs.
The pieces can be recombined to create different shapes. Thanks to the puzzle tabs, it is easy to play with the flexing possibilities. It is a gamified design: there is a basic configuration (first image), but new shapes can be explored by combining pieces and connecting the tabs in different ways (image below and last three).
