Tableware
A modular tableware set that reinterprets the mealtime experience, enhancing it with the joy of sharing, effective communication, and being fully present in the moment.
This set fosters an introspective journey, allowing users to appreciate and enjoy each culinary delight while creating memorable experiences around the dining table.
Hyperbolic paraboloid
The design of the pieces comes from the exploration of shapes driven by mathematical formulae.
Hyperbolic paraboloids are often referred to as “saddles”. Their official name stems from the fact that their vertical cross sections are parabolas, while the horizontal cross sections are hyperbolas.
A hyperbolic paraboloid is a surface that may be generated by a moving line that is parallel to a fixed plane and crosses two fixed skew lines.
The shape is interesting, as it creates a surface with two upper and two lower points, maintaining horizontal and vertical symmetry.
Modular beech wood pieces fabricated by CNC
The user can play with the modules to form ensembles. It is a sculptural piece that encourages interaction and personalisation.
At first it may seem like a two-dimensional game, but when we realise that the hyperbolic surface can be staked, we can start piling up the pieces and create structures with multiple levels.
As the pieces are made of solid beech, the wood grain also comes into play in the modular combinations. Each piece is unique, thanks to the nature of nature.
Saddle aims to be more than just decoration; the modules are endowed with a multi-purpose function so that the final composition remains open to the imagination of each user.
Stackable
Modularity also works by layers, creating a tower of perfectly aligned pieces.
